MUMBAI, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Indian markets closed lower Thursday.

Equity benchmarks have maintained their downtrend from the first hour, with the Sensex trading down over 250 points.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 37,165.16, 356.46 points or 0.95 percent down compared to its previous close at 37,521.62.
